This is a great sarcastic, witty, and sometimes a bit corny attempt at writing a dictionary. I recommend it, its quite a hoot (though, as I've said, it can get rather corny at some points).
This droll, and often outright funny, little book has been updated over the years, but the copy I have is the second edition, from 1904. I recently bought another copy to give to a book-loving friend as a gift. It has witty, silly and sometimes slightly dated definitions of various words. Sometimes the definitions have to do with something that was current at the time and you may have to think about it, or even do a little research to find the full meaning, but most are not that difficult, if you have a brain and can think! I get my copy out occasionally, when I want a laugh, and just flip through it. It's amazing to me that a book can be at least 110 years old and still be interesting, and it's not even a novel!
A great read. It was very interesting and funny all in one book. Would suggest to anyone for a great gift.
